George's father, Henry Levi Cranton, married his third wife, Martha Maria B. Dow Clifford, in New Hampshire, ca 1900. Henry Levi later moved to Vermont where in 1907 he married for a fourth time to Josephine Augusta Welch. His life is somewhat of a mystery.
