Cranton Bay on Antarctic Map.jpg - Ongoing mapping and exploration, much done with airborne radar, uncovers many new and previously unnamed geographic features. When Cranton Bay was discovered, it was named after Elmer Cranton for his year of service at Byrd Station in 1966-67. Cranton Bay is marked in red on this large-scale map, taken from the "Planet Earth" website. Cranton Bay is on a line directly south from the central USA, on the meridian from the Texas panhandle, south through Mexico, across the Pacific Ocean to the Antarctic coastline.
